FAQ
1. Why YUN silk duvet is the best option for babies?
Our product is classfied as A, the top grade, according to the testing result of National Inspection and Testing Center for Fiber Products Quality. Meanwhile, we have got the certificate for ecological fiber product. Above the highest quality standard, we are the only qualified producer in China of silk duvets which are safe and healthy for babies and children .

Babies spend at least 12 hours sleeping everyday, which is indispensable for their healthy growth. Undoubtedly, a good sleep is extremely important. YUN silk duvet is doing a great job in improving the quality of your baby¡¯s sleep. The facts are:

    a. YUN silk duvet is extra soft, light and warm. It is renowned for its "warm in winter and cool in summer" feature. It is like a thermostat. It is "breathable".
    b. Being contoured by YUN silk duvet, babies won¡¯t feel too dry or overheat, therfore much less likely to kick off the coverings.
    c. Silk is naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mite, therefore very protective to your babies¡¯ tender skin and health.
    d. It is free of any chemicals or small filaments which are often seen in duvets of inferior quality, for example, machine made silk duvets. Babies won¡¯t breathe in the invisible filament which might endanger their health.

2. Why is YUN silk absolutely ¡°green¡±?

YUN silk is harvested from silkworms which feed on natural and pesticides-free mulberry leaves. Silkworms, which produce cocoons where the natural silk come from, are very delicate. Even a small tinge of pesticide left on the leaves is lethal to the silkworms, thus strictly forbidden to be used while the mulberry trees are growing.

From A to Z, each working procedure of YUN is strictly done by hands-- even the cocoons are washed and stripped in crystal clear water from 40 meters down underground, rather than tap water which contains chloride of lime. Free of chemicals (like bleach) or impurities (like pupa) often seen in machine-made products, YUN handmade silk duvet rejects anything that is not green and healthy.

We spare no effort in every detail, because we deeply understand that quality and health is invaluable and should always be our top concern

3.Why YUN silk filled duvet has a long life expectancy?

It is largely due to our high quality standard. Each quilt is made of hundreds of silk sheets evenly handlayered in a criss-cross pattern; every single filament goes from one side of the duvet to the opposit in an unbroken way. Therefore the duvet is very even and stable without possibility of agglomeration, breaking up or pulling apart even after prolonged use. If under proper care, a YUN silk duvet can be used for at least ten years or even life time.

4.Why YUN handmade silk duvet is warm in winter and cool in summer?
Silk is composed of protein (97%) and other ingredients, which is in common with human body. Silk filament has 33%-38% of space in structure, which can keep air and moisture. In hot weather, silk can absorb and tranfer extra heat and moisture and thus keep a comfortable sleeping environment. In cold weather, because of the air in the silk filament, the duvet is insulated so that the heat inside is not lost. Therefore the silk duvet is natural and ¡°breathable¡±. It can creat a unique "warm in winter, cool in summer" effect for it is renowned

5.How to choose the suitable weight of silk duvet?

Because silk is natural and "breathable" the characteristics of a silk filled duvet are such that it is much more flexible than duvets with other fillings, such as down, feather or polyester in coping with changes in your sleeping environment, such as ambient room temperature and your own body temperature.

Our recommendations are 300g/m2, 200g/m2 and 100g/m2, suitable for winter, spring & fall, summer respectively. However, 200g/m2 is also recommended for rooms with heater system in winters.

One important point is that the quality and cost for the same weight of duvet varies greatly, sometimes the cost can differ by 4-5 times. Therefore weight by itself doesn¡¯t mean everything. For example, for the mulberry silk of same weight, the dimension of 100% handmade silk duvet is two time of other machine-made duvets and at the same time, warmer by 3 times.

6.What are the options for quilt cover?
In conformity to the superb quality of our silk duvet, good quality duvet covers are available, including 100% cotton, silk, silk&cotton mixed in different forms and percentages.

7.Can you make product according to our specific needs in interms of sizes and materials for duvet covers?

It is largely due to our high quality standard. Each quilt is made of hundreds of silk sheets evenly handlayered in a criss-cross pattern; every single filament goes from one side of the duvet to the opposit in an unbroken way. Therefore the duvet is very even and stable without possibility of agglomeration, breaking up or pulling apart even after prolonged use. If under proper care, a YUN silk duvet can be used for at least ten years or even life time.

8.How to clean and care?

Washing either by hand or machine is not recommended, although the structure of YUN silk duvet won¡¯t be damaged due to its strong and stable feature . However, if cleaned by water, the duvet will become less soft and fluffy. Only by airing under sun and patting can you restore the duvets¡¯ original feature.

It is recommended that the duvet be used with a removable duvet cover for protection. In case that localised spillages happens, the outer cover should be separated from the silk fillings and then carefully hand washed with non-biological detergent suitable for washing silk and wollen. Alkaline detergent is forbidden as it will ruin protein in the silk and thus damage the silk duvet entirely.

After 14-30 days of continuous use, it is recommended that the duvet be regularly aired without a duvet cover in mild sunshine for 1-2 hours. Beat it lightly to make it fluffy.

Since the silk is protein, never expose to strong sunlight or dry it in high temperature.

How to store:

In the transit of seasons, the silk duvet must be aired and dried and then put in dry and cool places;
The duvet must not be exposed to extra heat or strong sunlight for a long time;
The duvet must not be stored with camphor balls.
The duvet must not be topped with too much weight .
The duvet must not be vaccum-packed for a long time.

9.Why stitching is not necessary for YUN silk duvet?

Duvet with stitching has "cold spot". In contrast, YUN silk duvet is evenly warm throughout the whole duvet.

Because it is handlayered in a criss-cross pattern, silk duvet is a complete structure, stable and never bunch under duvet cover.

Duvets that are not 100% handmade have broken silk filament and other unnatural ingredients mixed up together. After a period time of use, it is pulled apart or agglomerated. Therefore, stitching is a must to keep it together. YUN silk duvet, however, is a whole, with hundreds of complete silk sheet, like web, hand-layered one on the top of another to form an even and stable filling.

10. How to judge the quality of silk duvet?

Handmade silk duvet is made up of 100% long mulberry silk. It is the top grade product in duvet market. Machine made silk duvet are usually made with silk that are treated by chemicals, crushed by machines, with rayon and broken silk all mixed up together.

Smell: inferior silk gives off a slight smell of chemicals and silkworm pupa, which will become stronger in more humid and warmer enviornment during use. This smell is definately harmful to your health, especially to those who have allergic constitution.

color: 100% natural silk floss has a soft and lustrous pearly color; in contrast, as a result of bleaching, inferior floss looks artificially white and shiny.

hand feel: pure silk floss feels more delicate yet less smoother than lower-grade ones which have been treated by machines.

length of silk filament: The most exquisite duvet is made of long and unbroken mulberry silk which is stretched and handlayered one by one in a criss-cross patten. It is very smooth and even throughout the duvet; in contrast, silk in machine-made duvet is usually broken. Shake the duvet quickly, if it is made by machine, tiny dust-like fibres can be seen falling down from the duvet. These fluff may enter the respiration systems and further do harm to people's health, especially to babies and children.

flexibility: silk is very flexible and strong. In contrast, silk in machine-made duvet is loose and fragile.

Even and flossy structure: Hand-layered silk filled duvet is two times bigger in dimension compared to other silk duvets of same weight. It is even and flossy throughout the duvet, without any cold or hard dots which usually happened to machine-made silk duvet. Therefore, YUN hand-made silk duvet is very warm and comfortable.
